Qidian is an Irvine-based startup located at the University of California Irvine's Research Park. Co-founded in 2014 by two employees of the Orange County Business Council, Dr. Wallace Walrod (Chief Economist of OCBC) and Petersen Walrod, Qidian initially began as a career coaching service.
After extensive experimentation and trial and error, Qidian pivoted towards the creation and deployment of labor market research, career service programs, and career ed-tech. Qidian has worked with universities, the non-profit sector, community colleges, and a number of businesses to deliver better career services.
A Father-Son Team
It's the classic duo: the expert and the fresh perspective: "The business guru of Orange County" Dr. Wallace Walrod, is a renowned labor-market expert and Petersen Walrod is a savvy young graduate who wants to make a difference.
Dr Wallace Walrod has been finding the answers to labor market problems for businesses and educational institutions, friends and families in Orange County, CA for the last 20+ years. The struggles that Petersen and his peers endured in their efforts to find not just a job but roles in society. Millions of talented albeit unprepared young people, even university graduates, simply can't find where they fit in the labor market.
